Letter to Railway Minister (New Trains)

Dear Shri. Piyush Goyalji,

I write this to draw your kind attention to the news item regarding the stand of the officers of the Southern Railways who are attending the Railway Board Time Table Committee at Mumbai.

The officers have taken the stand that no new trains originating from other Zonal Railways and ending in Kerala need be sanctioned due to the capacity constraints at the Stations in Kerala, particularly Trivandrum; the new trains requested by other Zonal Railways are being diverted to Tamil Nadu bye-passing Kerala; the new Jabalpur –Trivandrum Express sought by other Zonal Railway is being diverted to Tirunelvelli. Kindly refer to your D.O. Letter No. 6/1/2017-DIPAM-II-B dated January 15, 2018 in response my D.O letter submitted to the Hon’ble Prime Minister on June 17, 2017.

You will appreciate that the public sector undertakings have made stellar contribution to the economy both at the State and national level. Films Division, Government of India, Trivandrum Office has been functioning since 5 decades at the capital city of Kerala for the implementation of Compulsory exhibition of Central/State Informative films at Cinema halls under the Cinematograph Act 1952 as well as Kerala Cinema regulations rules 1988. For fulfilling the licensing conditions in Kerala State a Certificate from the Films Division, Govt. of India has been made mandatory stating that all arrangements have been made for the supply of approved films. Letter to Railway Minister (Group D Exam of Railway)

Dear Shri. Piyush Goyal ji,

I write this to draw your kind attention to the major slip-up in the Centralized Employment Notice No 2/2018 for the recruitment to ‘Group D’ posts published by the Railway Recruitment Board and the need for early rectification.

I understand that in the said notice the candidates, under the jurisdiction of various railway divisions, are permitted to write the examination in their regional languages. But Malayalam has been excluded from the list of regional languages for the said written examination. (more…)

Letter to the Prime Minister- Endosulfan victims issue

Dear Shri. Narendra Modiji,

I would like to draw your kind attention to my earlier letters dated February 14, and October 30, 2017 regarding the need for central assistance for providing relief and rehabilitation of the Endosulfan victims of Kasaragod District, in Kerala.

The State has time and again been requesting for financial assistance of Rs. 483 crore from Centre as submitted in the State’s proposal in 2012. But no help has been forthcoming from the Central Government so far. (more…)

Letter to the Prime Minister (Prasar Bharati- Closing down Analog Transmission)

Dear Shri. Narendra Modiji,

Prasar Bharati has an extensive network for terrestrial transmission with more than 1400 transmitters. TRAI has asked Prasar Bharati to move over to Digital Terrestrial Transmission by 2023 and close down analogue transmission by then. You would appreciate that while satellite transmission has evolved as a major technology and is preferred over terrestrial transmission, in the event of cyber warfare etc, the satellite transmission can be jammed and disrupted. As such no country in the world has totally stopped terrestrial transmission, even while encouraging satellite transmission. (more…)

I write this to draw your kind attention once again to a long pending grievance of 1058 retired employees of Hindustan Machine Tools, Kerala Unit at Kalamassery regarding their pension. My earlier letters on the same subject dated 07/02/2017 and 12/09/2017 are enclosed for ready reference.

The members of the HMT Non Pensioners’ Association joined the company in 1963 and served for a long time and have been demanding pension scheme other than EPF Pension Scheme, similar to other Central Government Institutions like Port Trust, BHEL that have the Pension Scheme. (more…)

Letter to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister (Parambikkulam-Aliyar Project water issue)

Dear Thiru Edappadi K. Palaniswami,

I write this to draw your kind attention to my D.O letter of even number dated 08/02/2018 regarding the release of the legitimate share of water to Kerala under the Parambikkulam-Aliyar Project Agreement.

I am sorry to state that the situation has not changed till date. The failure to ensure discharge of 400 cusecs at Manacadavu would result not only in drinking water shortage but also in lack of water for irrigation. The release of water on 11/02/2018 and 12/02/2018 was 80 cusecs per day only. This would result in imminent drought and loss of paddy crop in Chitturpuzha valley. (more…)

Please refer to my earlier D.O. letters dated October 24, 2016 and March 6, 2017 seeking your kind intervention to delink Hindustan Newsprint Limited (HNL) in Kerala from Hindustan Paper Corporation and making it an independent enterprise directly under the control of Department of Heavy Industries.

As you are aware Hindustan Newsprint Limited, a subsidiary of Hindustan Paper Corporation Limited has shown excellent performance and had kept a commendable track record in terms of production, productivity and profitability until recent past. During the good years HNL has paid back Rs. 117 crores as dividend. (more…)
