As you are aware that Government of Kerala is developing a Deep water International Container Transshipment Terminal at Vizhinjam, near Thiruvanathapuram through Public Private Partnership on BOT basis. Government of Kerala has executed Concession Agreement with Adani Vizhinjam Ports Private Ltd (AVPPL) for the development of Vizhinjam Project, which is expected to become a landmark in the development scenario of the State of Kerala and the work is progressing as scheduled.
Kerala being one of the most populous States in the Country, for speedy and hassle free acquisition, the land required for development of the Port was acquired through negotiated purchase in which land value was fixed by a committee under the Chairmanship of the District Collector, after issuing Notification under Land Acquisition Act 1894. Please refer to your D.O. Lr No. PD-25021/25/2015-PDII Dated, 13.02.2017 regarding the implementation of the Projects under State Sagarmala Committee. I would like to inform that the Government of Kerala has accordingly reconstituted the Sagarmala Committee under the Chairmanship of the State Minister in charge of Ports, Museum and Archeology, under intimation to Government of India and as mentioned in your letter. The minutes of the 1st meeting SSC has been forwarded to Government of India. The Kerala State Maritime Development Corporation (KSMDC) is identified as SPV under Sagarmala Programme for the implementation of Sagarmala Projects.
The work of Deep water International Container Transshipment Terminal at Vizhinjam through Public Private Partnership is progressing as scheduled. Government of Kerala is keen in availing all assistance from GoI under Sagarmala Scheme. The proposal for rail connectivity is being prepared and the same will be submitted within a week. (more…)
